Boku No Kitsune: Part 4





“I CAN’T BELIEVE HE’S DONE THIS!!!” Sasuke shouted out angrily, violently knocking a chair down as he paced about in his room.

“Now, now, Sasuke. Calm down,” Kakashi tried his best to settle down his young student.

“Calm down!?” Sasuke growled and turned on him, pointing towards the door to the bathing room. “My personal servant is a man!”

“Yes…well…” Kakashi flushed slightly, rubbing his chin. “It’s certainly problematic…but not unheard of.”

Sasuke growled and returned to pacing. “He’s done this to mock me…that insufferable bastard!”

Kakashi smiled in amusement and shrugged. “Perhaps…then again, maybe it was an accident? After all, Sasuke, he is your big brother. I doubt he’d wish to embarrass you in front of the court.”

Kyokkou cautiously entered the room just then, cleaned up now and dressed in his new ‘servant’ clothes. The black muck was finally out of his hair and all the dirt that had cacked to his skin had been scrubbed off. He felt centuries better then he did a second ago, but still frowned nervously. He could hear the yelling from a mile away, and was a little anxious of how his beloved mate would react when he reappeared.

“An accident!? How is that an accident? How do you mistake that-“ Sasuke howled and turned, pointing at finger at his servant who’d re-entered...and suddenly lost his voice.

Kyokkou winced as a finger was pointed at him, then relaxed with a confused frown as Sasuke suddenly stopped yelling and just stared at him with wide eyes.

“-street rat…girl?” Sasuke dumbly attempted to finish his sentence, all his rage completely evaporating in his surprise.

Kakashi looked equally surprised, leaning over Sasuke’s shoulder to get a better look at the servant boy. “Oh my…golden hair? I’ve never seen such a thing.”

Apparently, blonde hair was just as rare among humans as it was among the kitsune. Either way, I felt happy inside. My long search had finally come to an end! Now I need only to win my mate’s love and take him home with me.




Kyokkou sighed and frowned, looking around nervously as he entered the lower kitchens. There were a handful of people busily rushing about, the pleasant aroma of meat, pies, and ale filling the air. He carefully avoided getting run over and continued his curious wandering, before accidently bumping into a young woman with a basket of apples.

“Ahhh! I-I’m sorry!” The girl exclaimed in surprise, the apples spilling onto the ground.

He flushed and bent to help pick up the fruit. “N-No…that was my fault.”

They gathered the apples back up and into the basket, the girl sighing softly and wiping her forhead in relief. She was your average looking young woman, with dark brunette hair pulled into two buns on the top of her head.  She wasn’t extraordinary, but she was pretty in the simple sort of way.

“Thank you, sir.” She smiled at him, then seemed to realize something. “Oh! Are you the new servant?”

“Servant?” Kyokkou exclaimed in mild surprise, finally starting to understand why’d he’d been taken to this castle.

“Yeah…Uchiha Sasuke-sama’s personal servant, right?” She confirmed with a cheerful smile.

“Oh…hai,” He flushed slightly and stood up, nodding.

“It’s nice to meet you. My name is Tenten,” She smiled and bowed slightly. “I was told to give you a little beginner's instruction.”

“Ah…ok,” Kyokkou bowed back, relaxing.

“This way, please,” Tenten requested, starting for the door that led outside.

Following her lead, Kyokkou stayed behind the girl and looked around as they left the kitchen and entered a backyard area with a well, chicken coop, the castle gardens, and many boxes and barrels along the walls. She led him to the well and sat the basket beside it, rolling up her sleeves.

“So! What’s your name?” Tenten asked him, taking hold of the rope and starting to pull on it.

“Eh?” Kyokkou panicked, suddenly realizing something. He couldn’t tell them his demon name. He hadn’t thought about what he’d call himself among the humans…

“Hm?” Tenten paused and glanced at him, taking his surprised and distressed expression as a bad sign. “Oh…I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to upset you.”

“Ah…no…it’s not that. It’s just…I don’t have a name, actually,” He lied, rubbing the back of his neck with a guilty frown. ‘What a bad excuse…’

“Awe…how sad…” Tenten frowned at him in pity, then lightened her expression with a smile. “Well…aside from that…as Sasuke-sama’s personal servant, your job will be to serve him as he commands. That means you’ll take orders only from him, and accompany him wherever he goes.”

“I see…” Kyokkou murmured, his thoughts trailing back home. So a personal servant was like a servant you kept with you at all times.

Tenten smiled and ushered him over to help her, and for the rest of the morning he followed her around and learned how humans did things in their world.

So this means…I’ll be close to Sasuke. It must be the work of destiny…
